Voice boost
Neural noise suppression and a playback volume/clarity chain for review.
During review, the Voice boost control above the transcript improves how a recording sounds — it doesn't change the recorded audio itself, only playback.
What it does
- Neural denoise (RNNoise) suppresses steady background noise — fans, hum, keyboard clatter — while leaving speech intact.
- A speech-shaping chain (a high-pass filter, a presence boost, and light compression) makes quieter speakers easier to hear without the loud parts becoming harsh.
- A volume slider goes above 100%, since a source that was recorded quietly (a laptop mic across a room, for example) sometimes needs more gain than the system volume alone gives you.
When to use it
Turn it on for lectures recorded with background noise or an inconsistent speaker volume. For a clean, close-mic recording it usually makes little audible difference — leave it off if you prefer the untouched sound.
