Transcripts and coverage
How live captions and the full transcript fill in over a recording, and what "coverage" means.
While you record, Dex Notes shows live captions in real time from your browser's speech recognition. They appear immediately but are rougher than the final transcript.
After a segment finishes uploading, Dex Notes transcribes it server-side for a cleaner, more accurate transcript that replaces the live caption for that stretch of audio.
Coverage
Review shows how much of the recording has a transcript yet, broken down as:
- Caption-covered — has a live caption, not yet upgraded.
- Transcribed — has the final server-side transcript.
- Untranscribed — no transcript yet, shown as gaps you can jump to directly.
A segment can also be pending, uploading, or failed — a failed segment retries automatically; nothing is silently dropped. Untranscribed time shrinks as segments finish uploading and transcribing, usually within moments of the recording ending.
