Notes & review

Notes, markers and diagrams

Taking notes during a lecture, marking important moments, and sketching diagrams.

Notes

  • Type notes in the lecture's notes column. Click a note to edit it inline.
  • Formatting: headings, bold, italic, underline, bulleted lists and numbered lists. Typing * or - starts a bullet, and 1. starts a numbered list.
  • Save note and start another saves the current note and opens a blank one.
  • Quick notes: a resizable strip with quick tools. It can collapse to just the tools.
  • Insert into a note:
    • Diagram: a whiteboard where you draw a diagram. You can edit the diagram later, and the title is optional.
    • Image: upload one from your device or search Google Images.
    • Definition: search Wikipedia and add the cited summary to the note.
    • Assignment: create an assignment that also appears on the course's Assignments page.
  • Notes sync automatically. If syncing fails, use Retry sync. A deleted note can be restored right after deleting it.

Markers (flagged moments)

A marker flags a moment in the lecture so you can come back to it. Each marker has a tag:

  • Confused: you didn't follow something.
  • Important: something worth remembering, like "this will be on the exam".
  • Question: something to ask or look up.
  • Review later: something to revisit.

Add a marker with Add marker, or select text in the live transcript to turn it into a marker. Markers are pinned to the lecture timeline, so in review you can jump to the moment they were made.

The outline

The lecture outline lists your notes and headings, so you can jump around a long lecture quickly.
